Rottingdean Drama Society has been going strong for over half a century, performing plays to entertain not only the people of Rottingdean but ever-widening audiences in Brighton and surrounding areas. The Society's aim is to present a balanced program each year, including great classics, costume dramas, contemporary plays, comedies and pantomimes.

The Society was founded in 1948 and aims to perform three plays and a pantomime each year at the Rottingdean Village Hall.

High standards are sought and, over the years, entries for the annual Brighton and Hove Arts Council Drama Competition have received ten awards including recognition of the warm and welcoming theatrical environment, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Stage Setting and three times in ten years for the Best Overall Production.

Rottingdean Drama Society is proud to present, Breezeblock Park, by Willy Russell and directed by Jo Newman. Performances start on 4th July 2012.

This comedy about the sadness and madness of family life is set in the mid 1970s. A close-knit family gathers to spend Christmas together on the large housing estate where they live. There are undercurrents, overcurrents and the occasional tidal wave as they deal with issues ranging from the legacies of the swinging ‘60s to who has paid the most for their sofa.
