Rottingdean Drama Society has been going strong for over half a century, performing plays to entertain not only the people of Rottingdean but ever-widening audiences in Brighton and surrounding areas. The Society's aim is to present a balanced program each year, including great classics, costume dramas, contemporary plays, comedies and pantomimes.

The Society was founded in 1948 and aims to perform three plays and a pantomime each year at the Rottingdean Village Hall.

High standards are sought and, over the years, entries for the annual Brighton and Hove Arts Council Drama Competition have received ten awards including recognition of the warm and welcoming theatrical environment, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Stage Setting and three times in ten years for the Best Overall Production.

Rottingdean Drama Society is proud to present, Out of Sight ... Out of Murder, by Fred Carmichael and directed by Jo Newman. Performances start on 7th July 2010.

Peter is a successful mystery writer with writer's block. He has been sent by his editor to an old mansion where a mystery writer died 'in peculiar circumstances'. As he types his story lightning strikes and the characters come to life: the butler, the maid, the hero, the heroine, the femme fatale, the lawyer and the character lady. The will is to be read at midnight, murder will be committed and a mystery solved.

This is a comic look at one of the most popular genres with all the stock characters and a murder before the first commercial break.

Rottingdean Drama Society welcomes new active members throughout the year. If you are new to drama or have years of experience, please do not hesitate to come along to an audition or rehearsal and meet the other members. You will find a friendly and supportive atmosphere. [more]
