Synopsis

Kate and Greg's children have left home and they have moved from the suburbs to the city. Kate's career is going from strength to strength and Greg's is sinking. One day Greg comes back from the park with Sylvia, a stray dog he found there. For Kate, Sylvia is a threat, for Greg she’s a best friend. Tom uses her as an excuse to show off everything he knows. For Phyllis, Sylvia is enough to drive her back to drink and she sends Lesley running for his/her analyst. All Sylvia wants to do is eat, go out and sleep on the sofa. Sylvia is played by a woman. A play about the nature of love and commitment.
