The Three Musketeers - le panteau

A pantomime, by Richard Lloyd. Directed by Neil Border
January 2011

Alexandre Dumas' rip-roaring yarn of derring-do, palace intrigue and slushy amour has been fully and seamlessly transplanted into panto-land! The famous swashbucklers - Porthos, Aramis, Athos and D'Artagnan are effortlessly re-cast as a bevy of roistering, thigh-slapping lovelies Principal Garcons par excellence.

Throw in the despicable Cardinal Richeleeugh, his debauched sidekick Le Chevalier Du Lobster Roquefort, clutch of other (eminently hissable) villains, and a giant snail, and we have the raw ingredients for un panteau cordon bleu.

There will be opportunity missed to involve the audience, and loads of wicked jokes.

The Three Musketeers Le Panteau! will bring all that is best about traditional panto entertainment, with the added attraction of an exuberant new story and a colourful setting, based on an established and much-loved tale.
